Special-shaped steel wire production technology

Special-shaped steel wire in my country started relatively late. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, only a few large factories such as Shaanxi Steel Plant, Shougang Special Steel Plant, and Jiangxi Xinyu Steel Plant relied on the technical strength of their own units to organize the production of some simple cross-section special-shaped steel wires. In addition, there are also problems such as large dimensional tolerances and poor ductility, and the materials are mainly carbon steel, stainless steel, etc. The annual output is more than a thousand tons, and the less is only a few hundred tons or dozens of tons. Because of its small quantity, great difficulty in production, poor quality and insignificant benefits, it has not attracted the attention of manufacturers. The shape of special-shaped steel wire is complex, and there are many varieties and specifications. Our production enterprises have adopted the method of drawing, rolling and drawing-rolling, and have been able to produce special-shaped steel wire of various shapes, as shown in Figure 16-1-1. Materials have also been developed from ordinary carbon steel to carbon structural steel, carbon spring steel, alloy tool steel, stainless steel, heat-resistant and corrosion-resistant alloy steel, high-chromium bearing steel and non-ferrous metals. The delivery states include annealed state, cold drawn state and oil quenched and tempered state, and are delivered in coils and straight. The specifications range from 0.4 to 14mm, which basically meets the needs of the market, but there is still some gap between the shape and size of the steel wire, the tolerance, the ductility and the surface treatment of the developed countries.
